Jan’s expertise stems from his longtime advocacy for housing both as an elected official and as businessperson. He remains actively engaged with the dynamic communities of Eastern Montgomery County and Philadelphia.
Jan grew up in West Philadelphia, attending Lee School at 47th and Spruce and then Central High School
A graduate of Penn State Jan was a Peace Corps volunteer in Chad, Africa. Following that seminal experience he completed a Masters Degree in Library Science at the University of Minnesota. Thereafter he worked as a research librarian in public policy for the Minneapolis City Council and Mayor. He served in a similar capacity to the Governor and State Legislature in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
Jan ran for office and served as a City Council Member and as Chair of the Housing and Redevelopment Commission in Golden Valley, Minnesota. Deriving from his strong interest and advocacy in the public sphere for affordable housing and smart growth development Jan entered real estate as a career.
In 2004 Jan returned to Philadelphia and bought a house in Chestnut Hill.
Jan's intense interest and care for his clients has resulted in many strong, lifelong friendships. Each client has a different set of goals and interests, fasinating in their variety and humanity.
In 2016 his wife and partner, Martha Hill, joined him, bringing her expertise in managing estate sales, helping folks downsize, and staging.
He covers the gamut of communities and neighborhoods, throughout Philadelphia and Montgomery County.
