For Jon Shea, real estate is literally in his blood. His father has been in the industry for over 37 years, 32 of those running Shea Realty. During college Jon tried something different, working in the sales and marketing industry.  After graduating he realized that he wanted to be in the real estate industry helping clients buy and sell real estate.  Luckily, he had the perfect mentor, his dad!  He now has a team that includes his father, a full-time licensed assistant and a transaction coordinator. “Our unique team is involved from beginning to end, helping to facilitate the processes, so that transactions go smoothly.    This allows me to focus on showing properties and meeting with clients. We have a unique method called the 'Shea Way'. This creates happy clients and lifetime referrals.” Jon serves mainly the North County area of San Diego, but has experience all over San Diego county.

 

What sets him apart from other realtors working in the area? “Our customer service,” Jon explains. “We’ve been ranked #1 in Customer Service by San Diego Magazine for nine years in a row. I also really get to know my community.  I knock on doors about two hours a day, I know it's considered old school but I enjoy meeting people and am excited to help them with all their real estate needs.”

 

As a result of Shea Realty's reputation for excellent service, 60% of Jon’s business comes from repeat or referral customers. “Our number one goal is to do a good job for our clients.  When I was growing up, my grandfather had a rule: ‘You get everything in life you want as long as you help other people get what they want first.’ We work really hard for our clients, going above and beyond to take care of them during their buying or selling process. That’s why they refer us to friends and family.” Once a transaction is complete, Jon stays in touch with past clients .   He reaches out by phone, sends out an informative monthly newsletter and annually throws a client appreciation party.

 

To market listings, Jon uses the MLS as well as popular real estate websites. He works with both a stager and a phenomenal professional photographer to get the house ready for both foot traffic and marketing.  Jon says, “One of the most important parts of our process is to get the home completely ready so it looks GREAT when it goes on the market!”. He goes on to explain that some improvements can lead to a higher sales price.  The teams knowledge allows them to know which improvements these are and to execute them.  Sometimes spending $15,000 on a home before it hits the market can result in a sale price that could be $100,000 higher than it otherwise might be. Each time a home goes on the market, he’ll knock on doors in the same neighborhood, dropping off flyers and chatting with neighbors about the listing. He then hosts a large open house and makes phone calls to spread the word.  All part of the "Shea Way".

 

To give back to his community, Jon is a member of the very active Rancho Bernardo Rotary Group, serving on the boards which focus on Youth Services:  Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts and Service Above Self in elementary schools.  He's also a member of the Rancho Bernardo Business Association and the Chamber of Commerce. As a survivor of childhood leukemia, Jon also volunteers with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. In his free time, Jon loves to spend time with his 15-month old daughter. “Whatever my daughter or my wife want to do on a day off is what I want to do! I just love to hang out with my family,” Jon says with a smile. For the future, Jon hopes to expand his company by hiring additional agents. “I want to teach them the what we call the ‘Shea Way.’ We are really proud of it. We take care of our customers. We make sure that our customers are first. I want to hire new agents and teach them the system my dad taught me. The system Shea Realty uses, cares for the client from the beginning of the transaction until close."  With his work ethic and dedication to his business and his clients, the Shea Team is sure to make that dream come true!
