Working With a Financial Advisor

I like having someone push me to be a better person, to hold me accountable to the goals I set, direct me when I lose my way and catch me when I fall. That’s why I use an accountant, a lawyer, a body trainer, a marketing specialist and many others. In one way or another, each of these professionals has assisted me along the way and helped cultivate me into the person I am. That’s why I am so adamant about working with a financial professional.
I’ve been in the Financial Services industry for 20 years and can tell countless stories of how my relationship with clients has had a profound impact. From births to deaths, to dreams being realized and re-imagined, from market highs to lows. People seem to think that working with an advisor is for the super-rich, or if I am rich, why would I need help, or I can just do that stuff on my own.
Really, can you? Do you have the time, expertise and drive to constantly monitor and explore planning strategies to provide financial independence, security and growth for you and your family? Often, time is what it all comes down to. Listen, I know how to change my oil, but I find my time worth the money I pay the mechanic to do the job, do it right, and dispose of any mess. Many people are good at making money they just don’t know how to make it work harder for them.
I make people’s money work harder for them then they did for it. That’s it. I constantly work with my clients to think about what’s next, what else can we be doing. Even my smartest clients; PhDs, scientists, engineers, business owners, recognize their worth is not in managing their assets. They make money, I help them make wise decisions.
People don’t know what they don’t know. I recently spoke with a Senior IT associate at a large financial services company who was unsure what his Company match was on the 401k, not to mention his profit-sharing plan. I spoke with an HR rep who didn’t know how his disability plan worked. I set up an investment plan with a single, working father who just doesn’t have enough hours in the day. I helped coordinate an Estate Plan for a gentleman with a special needs son so that his inheritance will be protected and he can continue receiving the resources offered by state and federal programs.
There is more to your financial success than just managing assets. So much more. I think it behooves everybody to work with a professional they know, like and trust. I can be that person.
Thank you for reading. Wishing you and yours successful ongoing financial conversations!
