Professional Approach

John is a 30+ year veteran CFP ® advisor who is the Founder and President of Longhorn Wealth Management Group.  He is a proud graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, as are his wife and 6 siblings!  It was this rich family UT tradition that led John to brand his firm "Longhorn Wealth" and dedicate the firm to "Providing Total Wealth Management for Texas Alumni, Employees, Family and Friends".

John and his Longhorn Wealth team specialize in providing comprehensive wealth management services for their clients with an emphasis on maximizing tax-efficient retirement income for those clients.  Also, while dedicated to serving University of Texas alumni and employees, John and his team support a broad array of clients from all backgrounds and affiliations. The overriding driver of Longhorn Wealth is providing clients with a service level that is structured to support and earn long term client/family relationships that will span multiple generations. John is very proud that they have succeeded in providing that unique service level for over 30 years.

In addition to the Five Star Award recognition you see here, John has earned The Million Dollar Round Table qualification within his industry numerous times as well as recognition from his Broker/Dealer for outstanding performance and client service in both the investment and insurance arenas. John also serves as a guest lecturer at The University of Texas at Dallas Jindal School of Management.   John earned both the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification and the CHARTERED RETIREMENT PLANNING COUNSELOR™ designation, as well as the Series 7, 63 & 65 Securities Registrations and the General Lines Agent (Life, Accident & Health) Insurance License.

John has been married to his wife, Leasa, since 1991 and they have two daughters, Hollyn and Chaslyn. They live in Plano, TX (Collin County) and are members of Prince of Peace Catholic Community located there, as well as being active in various civic and charitable organizations. John's most passionate and longstanding charitable endeavor has been his service to the Texas Exes, the UT alumni organization.  John served on the Board of The Texas Exes Dallas Chapter for over 15 years, and is now helping lead the re-launch of The Texas Exes Collin County Chapter.  In 2022, John was appointed to the Collin County LifePath Systems Board, helping lead that organization which serves individuals and families impacted by behavioral health and/or intellectual or developmental challenges, resulting in a stronger and healthier Collin County community.
