Professional Approach

Jamie M. Powell, CFP® is originally from South Bend, Indiana and is a 1981 graduate of Indiana University-Bloomington. She has a Bachelor of Science in Marketing/Advertising. After spending six years as a sales manager in the trucking industry, she joined Financial Care Corporation. She completed the Certified Financial Planner Professional Education Program in 1991 and is fully licensed to provide knowledgeable advice regarding securities and insurance needs. In 1988 Jamie began working as a sole proprietor and is currently doing business as Capital Advisory Services, LLC. She is a Certified Financial Planning Practitioner and an Investment Advisor Representative.

Jamie and her husband, Jan, have been married 40 years and have three children, Adam, Alexandra and Zachary, 30, 25 and 23 years old, respectively. Adam graduated with a Masters in Exercise Science from Northern Kentucky University and is currently working at Capital Advisory Services, Alex is a 2020 graduate of  the University of Dayton and a 2021 graduate of Xavier University with a BSN in Nursing and is currently an RN at the University of Cincinnati Hospital in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Zach graduated from The University of New York at Albany in May, 2022 and just finished his first year of law school at Indiana University - Bloomington.  With the kids on their own for the most part they have started traveling more and vacationing with friends and families. They also actively support the Rare Disease Family Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by their daughter Alex which supports children and young adults and their families living with a rare disease.

Wealth managers do not pay a fee to be considered or placed on the final list of Five Star Wealth Managers. The award is based on 10 objective criteria. Eligibility criteria - required: 1. Credentialed as a registered investment adviser (RIA) or a registered investment adviser representative; 2. Actively licensed as a RIA or as a principal of a registered investment adviser firm for a minimum of 5 years; 3. Favorable regulatory and complaint history review (As defined by FSP, the wealth manager has not; A. Been subject to a regulatory action that resulted in a license being suspended or revoked, or payment of a fine; B. Had more than a total of three settled or pending complaints filed against them and/or a total of five settled, pending, dismissed or denied complaints with any regulatory authority or FSP's consumer complaint process. Unfavorable feedback may have been discovered through a check of complaints registered with a regulatory authority or complaints registered through FSP's consumer complaint process; feedback may not be representative of any one client's experience; C. Individually contributed to a financial settlement of a customer complaint; D. Filed for personal bankruptcy within the past 11 years; E. Been terminated from a financial services firm within the past 11 years; F. Been convicted of a felony); 4. Fulfilled their firm review based on internal standards; 5. Accepting new clients.
