Rosamaria Acuña is a real estate professional, entrepreneur, and humanitarian deeply committed to her coastal community and a range of causes and nonprofits. She is a resident of Point Loma and originally hails from Calexico, California.
Career & Experience:
Rosamaria has over three decades of experience in residential real estate, serving a clientele ranging from first-time buyers to the luxury market. She is a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), with additional credentials including Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) and Short Sale Certification. She is also a mentor for new realtors with Berkshire Hathaway.
Rosamaria began her real estate career at the boutique agencies John Collins Company (1988) and One Source Realty (2002). In 2006, she joined Prudential California Realty, and in 2014, it was purchased by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties, where she is currently a top-selling realtor. Her expertise spans all stages of sourcing, brokering, and closing transactions for buyers, sellers, and investment properties, as well as guiding clients on creating security through real estate. With a goal of creating financial independence at an early age, Rosamaria purchased her first home at the age of 21, and a special focus of hers is guiding clients to invest in both their homes and future. As an entrepreneur, she has built a successful business consistently ranking among the top-producing realtors in the San Diego area, as well as an extensive professional network.
Rosamaria regularly contributes her expertise and thought leadership on real estate trends, women in business, and various nonprofit initiatives to The Beacon, San Diego Union-Tribune, San Diego Magazine, La Jolla Light, and other media outlets. Her education includes attending Kelsey-Jenney Business College in San Diego, CA, where she earned her Business Certificate in 1984 and attended Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA.
Community Service & Leadership:
In addition to real estate, Rosamaria is deeply committed to supporting her community through various environmental, humanitarian, and leadership initiatives. She currently serves as a Board Member and Event Chair for the City of San Diego’s Sunset Cliffs Natural Park, a 68-acre coastal preserve that is currently engaged in the restoration of 35 acres with native habitat.
In 2020, Rosamaria accepted an invitation to serve on the advisory board of the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC) headquartered on the Chesapeake Bay in Edgewater, Maryland. SERC is an impressive team of experts providing objective research and science-based knowledge to meet critical environmental challenges, including climate change, biodiversity loss, invasive species, and other critical environmental issues that have national and world implications, particularly for coastal communities like San Diego. She will be assisting with outreach and fundraising efforts, in addition to an important initiative regarding Diversity, Equitability, and Inclusion.
Rosamaria also serves as Co-Captain for the Point Loma Sunset Cliffs Neighborhood Watch, and Lead Committee Member for the San Diego Architectural Foundation, for which she has directed the community kick-off party for the worldwide organization, Oh! San Diego and this year will represent the Barrio Logan neighborhood. As a fundraiser and volunteer for the San Diego Rescue Mission, board member for the Friends of Scott Foundation (friends to children with cancer) and the Princess Project, Noah Homes (advocacy for people with developmental disabilities), she dedicates her time and resources to various initiatives on a monthly basis. Rosamaria is also a member of MANA de San Diego, the Latina women’s empowerment organization, and a recipient of the 2021 Latina Success Leadership 2021 Cohort. In addition, to several real estate and community organizations.
As a champion for youth and personal development, Rosamaria is also deeply invested in the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) as part of its Executive Leadership Expedition volunteer team. She has participated in expeditions including the Wind River Hiking Expedition (2015 Wyoming), Sea Kayaking Expedition (2017 Alaska), Hiking the Dolomites (2018 Italy), and Monte Rosa and Matterhorn (2019 Italian & Swiss Alps).
