Professional Approach

Sean is a 1984 graduate of the Boston University School of Management and began his career in the financial services industry in January 1985. After extensive training with the Wall Street firm Dean Witter Reynolds (now Morgan Stanley), Sean became affiliated with his current company, Commonwealth Financial Network, in September 1991. During his tenure with Commonwealth, Sean has also held the position of president with Century Financial, a division of Century Bank in Medford, Massachusetts. Additionally, from 1996 to 2002, Sean held the position of president with Clippership Financial Services, a division of the Salem Five Bank in Salem, Massachusetts. While president of Clippership Financial, Sean had the distinction of being named to Bank Investment Marketing (BIM) magazine's "Top 50 Reps of the Year" for 2000, 2001, and 2002*.

In 1999, Sean was presented with the Commonwealth Special Service Award, a recognition "for achievement above and beyond" in one or more of the following areas: excellence in wealth management for clients, a track record of sharing with Commonwealth financial advisors and staff, and a dedication to giving back to the community. This award is presented to only one Commonwealth-affiliated person per year.

For the years 2003 through 2017, Sean was recognized as a Chairman's Level advisor—a distinction attained this year by just 3 percent of advisors affiliated with Commonwealth. Additionally, Sean has qualified for the Commonwealth "Leaders Conference" in each of his 26 years with Commonwealth.

In addition to having the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designation, Sean holds a number of FINRA securities registrations, including the Series 3, 7, 24, 53, 63, and 65.

Sean is active in the community and has held a number of board positions with local charities, including the position of treasurer of the Essex National Heritage Commission and treasurer of the "A Better Chance Masconomet" program in Topsfield, Massachusetts.

*BIM solicited nominations from its circulation base of US bank reps (e.g., large, community, regional, and credit unions) over a period of several months. Candidates were ranked based on assets under management, production and number of clients, as well as growth in these three areas. This award is not indicative of the advisor's future performance. Your experience may vary. The criteria used reflects the most recent year for which the advisor received the award. The consideration pool for this award is no longer available, but its readership base in 2001-2002 was about 9000.

Sean M. Flynn is proud to have been recognized as a Chairman's Level advisor for 2018—a distinction based on annual production attained by just 3 percent of advisors affiliated with Commonwealth Financial Network.

Each year, Commonwealth, the Registered Investment Adviser–broker/dealer that helps us process investment transactions on your behalf, recognizes Chairman's Level advisors by inviting them to an exclusive gathering of their peers, leading industry experts, and Commonwealth home office staff. Chairman's Level advisors benefit from an intensive learning and networking experience designed to help them hone their expertise, share best practices, and provide ever-higher levels of service, education, and leadership to their clients.
