Penn Johnson is president of Stamford Mortgage Company, and a 37 year veteran of the mortgage lending and real estate industry.
In 1996, after ten years with People’s Bank Penn went out on his own and launched Stamford Mortgage Company. Under his guidance, the business grew from a single-employee company to a team of 18, having originated over $2 billion in loans and having served more than 4500 households before its acquisition by Savings Bank of Danbury in 2010.
Penn continues in his role as president. He says, “I’m proud of the strong reputation that Stamford Mortgage enjoys with the local real estate community and the many friendships we have enjoyed over the years. Being a part of a local bank makes us different from many of the other options that clients have. We understand we are an important part of a client’s support team, we respond quickly when things come up and are resourceful at solving problems.”
“When I meet with clients, I ask a lot of questions so that I can understand their priorities and suggest target price and financing options that meet their goals. I know that every client and household has different needs and preferences and I take the time to help our clients sort things out so they can be comfortable that they are buying the right home at the right price.
Penn works with new and existing homeowners. He specializes in jumbo and conventional mortgages, FHA, First Time Homebuyer Programs and Construction Mortgages. Over the years, he has won numerous awards for his work in the mortgage industry, consistently one of the top producers of purchase mortgages in Fairfield County and the State of CT and was recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of the top 100 financial professionals in the real estate industry.
